ToggleAndrew Nabbout (Australia at 2018 World Cup)
Only half a season was spent in Malaysian football with Negeri Sembilan before he was explicably dropped from the squad but that proved to be the club's mistake as Nabbout went on shine in the A-League. Bert van Marwijk selected him for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where Nabbout started in the matches against France and Denmark but was an unused substitute in the final group match against Peru.

The centre back's last club was Perlis in 1998, four years after he represented Nigeria at the World Cup in United States. He only played one match, the final group game 2-0 win over Greece as Nigeria reached the last 16 of the tournament, losing to Italy in the knockout stage. Keshi would go on to take charge of his country as head coach in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Jerry Palacios (Honduras at 2010 World Cup)
Part of the ATM squad in the 2016 Premier League, Palacios was part of the Honduras squad for the finals in Brazil where he famously was alongside his brothers in Wilson and Johnny. Jerry did not play in the opening group game defeat against Chile but came on as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat at the hands of eventual champions, Spain. Honduras' only point in the tournament that year came in the final group match against Switzerland where Jerry started and helped his team to a 0-0 draw against the European side.
- Selangor
Karel Stromsik (Czechoslovakia at 1982 World Cup)
The former Selangor keeper picked up the winners medal in the 1991 FA Cup but nine years before that, he was already playing in the World Cup that was held in Spain. That Czechoslovakia side were however knocked out of the competition in the group stages after finishing behind England and France. Stromsik replaced Stanislav Seman in the 2-0 defeat to England but started in goal for the 1-1 against France.
